P.A.T.T.I.® MICRO FEATURES:

P.A.T.T.I.® APPLICATIONS:
  • The self-aligning P.A.T.T.I.® MICRO quantitatively measures the adhesion strength of numerous coatings, including: paints, polymers, ceramics, inks, films, adhesives, and thermal or arc-sprayed metals.

  • Laboratory or field use.

  • The test surface can be smooth, rough, porous, flat or curved (please contact us for application specific solutions). Custom-machined pull-stubs are available at any size, either flat or with a radius to match curved surfaces.

  • The PATTI® can also be used to test the strength of adhesives under non-room environmental conditions from 32-212 degrees Fahrenheit (0-100 degrees Celsius).



EASY TO USE:
  • The P.A.T.T.I.® uses compressed inert gas (CO2 cartridges for portability or bottled/shop air) to apply a continuous tensile load to an aluminum pull-stub which is bonded to the test surface with an adhesive.

  • After the adhesive has cured, the operator attaches the selected piston. After ensuring that the correct piston and stub size are set on the P.A.T.T.I. the operator pushes and holds the "RUN" button. A continuous load is then applied to the pull-stub until failure occurs, or until a specified load is reached.




P.A.T.T.I.® MICRO DISPLAY:

Maximum load is displayed on a 2 line, backlit alpha-numeric display. When the test is complete, the display informs the user of the maximum tensile strength obtained during the test, the piston used, the pull-stub size, the total time duration of the test, and the average rate of pressure increase. All of this data can be saved to one of the 100 memory slots for future retrieval via the control module or your computer.

All of the above information can be saved for each test and this makes it easy to verify that a test complies with the requirements of an adhesion testing standard. For instance, ASTM D4541 dictates that a test must be finished in less than 100 seconds and at a rate of less than 150 psi/sec.




SELF-ALIGNING, NO OPERATOR BIAS:
The P.A.T.T.I.® features a patented piston design which assures uniaxial alignment with the pull-stub axis for "true tensile testing":

There is a different piston for each load range shown in the table below. At least 100 psig supply pressure (up to 160 psig) is required for all piston sizes and all pistons are self-aligning.

MEETS SPECIFICATIONS:

The PATTI® instrument and method conforms to ASTM D-4541, "Pull-Off Strength of Coatings Using Portable Adhesion Testers". Using 20mm pull-stubs, the P.A.T.T.I. conforms to ISO 4624/16276-1.

Also can be used for the testing of coatings on concrete according to ACI 503-30 Appendix A, A.1 or ASTM D7234. 50mm pull-stubs required.

Asphalt testing can be performed using specialty stubs. Contact us for details.
